Do you have days (or weeks!) when all you want to do is curl up on the couch, drink hot chocolate and travel the world from your laptop?
No? Just me? *laughing*
The truth is I’m a traveller from the top of my head to the tips of my toes.
When we can’t hit the road, I hit the couch and power up some of my fave camping blogs and live vicariously through them.
I call it “research”, you can call it “couch surfing”.
But honestly, it’s the best way to get to know other bloggers who share your passion for the outdoors and for travelling with family with zero fuss and 100% fun.
You get ideas, tips, best practices and also, cautionary tales.
It’s the best travel education.
So, today, I’m opening up my laptop’s archives for you to check out FIVE of my favourite travel and camping blogs.
Yes, even though I have my own Culinatour blog right here, the truth is the world is a very big place and there are so many who’ve travelled the road before us… yeah, getting a bit philosophical here.
But, reading travel blogs is a fantastic way for travel enthusiasts and travel bloggers to stay inspired and in the loop with the latest news.
The Top 5 Outdoor Adventure, Food and Camping Blogs for Families Who Love to Travel
A quick note: They aren’t so much of outdoor hiking and adventure travel blogs as much as they’re a mix of travel and cooking delights, with camping thrown in for good measure.
Hope you enjoy my travel “buddies” and don’t forget to share YOUR fave outdoor travel and food blogs with me in the comments.
David, Luise and Elsa are the sweet, vegetarian family behind Green Kitchen Stories. Truth be told, I salivate over their IG feed. It’s THAT delicious.
Their recipes are fresh, tasty and healthy… Check out this beautiful Frozen Pink Cheesecake and you’ll know what I’m talking about.
Want a pasta dish that’s bursting with the flavors of summer? Try this! It’s out-of-this-world delicious!
I’ve been bookmarking their recipes like a fiend and can’t wait to get my hands on their Green Kitchen Travels cookbook as well.
I’m sure it will be the go-to cookbook for our Culinatour Sprinter van tours!
2. Garden Betty
Another gorgeous blog that blends adventure with good food, Garden Betty is brimming with delicious recipes like these Choco Banana Date Bites that I can’t wait to make for Luisa.
PLUS, she’s got SO much goodness in the Outdoor Adventures section and the Parenthood category too.
Reading her blog is like sitting for coffee with an old friend and going through their travel albums and talking about their trips… The candid yet beautifully taken pictures and the stories make for hours of delightful reading.
Speaking of delightful reading, I’m LOVING my copy of Linda’s The New Camp Cookbook and have earmarked tons of recipes to try.
In fact, I love this cookbook so much that I plan on giving away a copy to one of YOU as well. So stay tuned for the first ever Culinatour giveaway coming up soon!!
This is a really cool blog by Katja, who initially started the site with her friend Victoria, to share their experiences and tips for families who love to travel through India and the site expanded quickly to share their experiences travelling through Nepal, Mexico and other countries.
Victoria has since moved on to newer adventures.
Nowadays, Katja shares her experiences travelling across Europe, North America, South America and Asia; with her three kids and husband.
Globetotting is different from the other travel sites I’ve shared here. It’s not about camping or even food, for that matter.
It’s about making travelling with kids fun and interesting even while you deal with toddler tantrums.
THIS is a new find for me and I love it.
Emily, the blogger behind Travelling Lines, reminds me a lot of myself. She’s an adventurer at heart and even has a cool bucket list to boot!
While I prefer the #VanLife, Emily is all about cycling and wild camping.
Just take a peek at all the amazing adventures she’s been on and you’ll know why I’m hooked to this blog.
Shell, Gav and Lucy are behind this incredible family camping resource. Calling it a blog doesn’t seem right.
Take a look at everything that they’ve got lined up for you and you’ll know what I mean.
Whether you want camping tips, hiking guides or canoeing and watersports, they’ve got you covered.
Their coolest site feature is the “Find a Family Campsite” which allows you to select your preferences and then, be “matched” with the perfect family campsite. Go on and play with it!
Looking at this list, I realized I do have a thing for blogs that start with the letter “G”. File that under random things Julia says in her posts. 😉
Anyway, there you have it… Five of my fave outdoor travel, food and camping blogs that give my adventure-loving soul a lot of nourishment. I hope they fill you with excitement and delight too.
Honestly, I would LOVE to meet each one of the bloggers in person and swap stories, ideas and dreams. In fact, I hope that there would soon come a time when I could invite them to take their next adventure in the Culinatour Sprinter Van!! Wouldn’t that be exciting?
Now your turn… Share your fave travel and food blogs with me!
See you in the comments or on the Culinatour Instagram feed!
